Week 4 prompt: How are you liking the book now that we are getting close to the end? Is it what you expected?
I love the book!!! I love how the story has unfolded, I figured it out a while back. I like how Oliver gets when things go his way in court how when he try's something and it works his reaction of total surprise. How cool he is outside when inside he is jumping for joy, It cracks me up.
I can't imagine how it would feel for Jacob to have to let them says he is insane when he knows he is not. Why hasn't anyone asked him any questions or asked what really happened. They are just going on what he has given up. His mom knows how he is why not ask more question why believe the worst in your child. No matter what your child does you still love them, you don't like what they have done but they are still your family. I have always taught my kids to love the person that does wrong and just dislike the act.
That's my advice for the year ha ha ha!!!!!

Week 3 House Rules
Week 3 prompt: What do you think of the competency hearing? After hearing what happened in the other trial (the Bean case) did it change your feelings about how the hearing went?
I am sad i couldn't put the book down so I finished early. I have been in the courts before with my brother there is nothing fair about a trial. The police in this book were portrayed exactly as they are. They don't care about anyone or anything. Once they think they have there suspect they stop looking. They treat the family member as if they are the criminals to. It was so hard for me to read these parts it brought back some bad memories. I was really glad they let Jacob go home with his mom I can't imagine what more would have happened to him if he had to stay in jail.
I am really glad I join Kim's book club because I would have never picked this book to read. Thank you Kim!

House Rules. Week 2.

I am really liking the book a lot better now. I have read to far in to the book so I had to put it away.
As for Theo and him worrying about not wanting to have kids must be heavy on his mind.I think he sees what his mom has given up in her life, how could he ask another women to do the same. That would be definitely some thing to think about.
He Loves his brother but his breaking into other peoples home just to feel some normality in his life goes to show how much he loves his Mom. He doesn't want to burden her with his problems because she has enough to worry about already. He has had to grow up a lot faster than most kids.

House Rules. Week1.
So far I dislike the book. All the jumping from one character to another drives me nuts. I do feel sorry for the brother. I remember growing up with this kind of life not as bad but still same feelings of never having a life of my own. I can't imagine how I would react if I saw someone wrestle their 6 foot kid to the ground in a store. I guess now I might understand a little more because of this book. I will keep reading and hope it gets better. I would still get my kids shots but I haven't seen the research. In my life I have only met one person who got a illness from shots and the shot brought out the illness that already was there. I think there are lots of things that cause a lot of illnesses now a days.
